CARPETS / RUG CLEANING
Floor coverings are usually the most damaged materials when a structure has experienced water damage. ID Cleaners & Carpets professionally evaluates the affected flooring materials, including the surface, the subsurface, and the complete perimeter of the seams. The amount of damage after a water loss is often more than meets the eye.
After water damage has affected a carpeted area, there are several things that have to be analyzed when considering restoring it to a pre-loss condition. An ID Cleaners & Carpet certified technician will determine the necessary steps that need to be taken.
Padding replacement is sometimes necessary, and is determined before drying efforts begin. Padding must be replaced under the following conditions:
- If cushion is installed over unprotected wood subfloor.
- If cushion is installed over finished wood flooring.
- If cushion has deteriorated to the point that restoration is unpractical.
- If cushion has remained saturated for more than 24-48 hours (depending on temperature).
When carpet is salvageable and does not have to be replaced, drying equipment will be brought in. The strategic placement of fans and dehumidifiers is critical in the art of carpet drying. The drying process will be monitored and continue until the carpet is completely dry, reducing the possibility for microbial growth.
